Welcome back, my aspiring hackers! Domain Name System (DNS) is one of those things we seldom think about unless it doesn't work. Then, it can be very frustrating when we attempt to navigate to a website and we get that frustrating error message. DNS enables us to type in a domain name in our browser, such as wonderhowto.com, rather than a numerical IP address of the site we are trying to reach. In its simplest form, DNS simply translates domain names into IP addresses, making our lives much simpler. Can you imagine trying to remember all of the IP addresses of the hundreds of sites you visit... more
