The point of long-wearing lipstick is for it to remain on the lips. Removal of it requires a little more effort than the standard lipstick.

Part 1: Removing the Top Layer
- Gently dab the lips with a dampened soft cloth, ball of cotton wool or paper towel. This will remove the most evident top layer of lipstick that is easiest to wipe off without additional effort.
- Wipe gently using an inward direction. Work from each corner to the middle of your lips.
- Pat dry lightly using a tissue.
Part 2: Removing Remnant Lipstick
- Dab your finger into a pot of Vaseline. Rub this across your lips, covering the lipstick entirely.
- Alternatively, dip a cotton swab into an oil-based eye makeup remover and rub this over your lips.[1]
- Leave the Vaseline on the lips for a few minutes. Use this time to remove mascara, or some other part of your makeup.
- Using a soft cloth, paper towel, or tissue, gently wipe off the Vaseline. Remnant lipstick will come off with the Vaseline.
- If any of the lipstick is still stuck, use a baby's (very soft) toothbrush to rub the lip area gently and lift off any remaining lipstick.
Part 3: Restoring Moisture
- Apply lip balm or lip moisturizer to restore moisture to the lips. Reapply as needed, although the Vaseline should have helped somewhat to soften the lips.

- It is worth keeping airline face cloths (usually disposed) for the removal of makeup; these can be reused with washing many times.
- Lips can be exfoliated weekly using a small fine brush or a baby's toothbrush. This keeps lips looking smooth and feeling soft.
- Proprietary makeup remover exists that is specifically suitable for removing long-wearing lipstick; this can be good value if you use it to remove all makeup from your face.
